About this event

The new science curriculum is upon us. Do you feel ready? Join us for a 90 minute, in-person workshop where we explore the new Living Systems unit. You will learn about the needs of living things (grade 1), their life cycles (grade 2) and their interconnectedness (grade 3). We decided to bundle these 3 grades together because the new science curriculum offers a new continuity of themes throughout the years. As such, it is useful for teacher to know what students have learned the year before, and what they are working towards in the next. Besides covering the main concepts, we will also leave you with lots of ideas for hands-on experiences that you can provide your students with. Our aim is to have you feeling more confident teaching science in an interactive way!

Presenter:

Our presenter, Jeffrey Newton, PhD, has 10+ years of science education experience and is passionate about sharing his ideas for making science more interactive for students. As a biologist, he has had firsthand experience with Living Systems in his own research. But, most of all he enjoys sharing with kids how they can interact with Living Systems at their own school or even at home.
